Earlier this week Packers Legend Jordy Nelson appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” and McAfee asked if he was going to play for the Packers again. Jordy jokingly replied “yes,” but it is a fun thing to think about.
Jordy retired from the NFL after the end of the 2018 – 2019 season. This means he’s only one year removed from NFL football which makes coming out of retirement, not a crazy thought. This also isn’t the first time Jordy has mentioned coming out of retirement. Shortly after he announced retirement he appeared on “The Dan Patrick Show” and said:
It would be hard to say ‘no’
Jordy Nelson on if Aaron Rodgers asked him to un-retire and play for the Packers
The Packers didn’t draft a wide receiver in the draft and are sending the message that they are comfortable with the group they have at the position. However, a fan favorite like Jordy could at least provide some leadership in a very young wide out room.
Stats as a Packer
- Five 1,000 Yard Seasons
- 69 Touchdowns
- 7,848 Yards
- 88 Starts
- 550 Catches
The Packers don’t need Jordy Nelson, but when you look at the signing of James Jones when Jordy went down in 2015 it makes a signing like Nelson possible if a Packers receiver was to get hurt.
As Always
What do you think about potentially bringing back Jordy? Could we see a situation similar to James Jones in 2015?
