The Milwaukee Bucks just keep rolling. Even with Giannis Antetokounmpo out and Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton having subpar games, the Bucks beat the Nets. A big part of the victory was Brook Lopez who had an incredible defensive effort last night. He looked like a Defensive Player of the Year candidate with 9 blocks last night.

Brook Lopez States Defensive Player Of The Year Case
Lopez almost had a very rare triple-double. He had 24 points and 10 rebounds but was one block shy of the rare feat. His 9 blocks are tied for the 2nd most in franchise history. While the team is full of versatile defenders, Lopez is the anchor of the defense. Brooklyn had no answers for him at the rim. It is a performance like this one that can propel a player to the top of an award conversation. If he keeps this up over the last bit of the regular season, he will be a serious candidate for Defensive Player of the Year.

Not The Only Player In An Award Race
There’s a reason the Bucks are atop the league in terms of record. Giannis is of course an MVP candidate. Bobby Portis is also in the Sixth Man of the Year race and had a great game last night as well. He had 28 points and 13 rebounds which helped fill the void of Giannis’ absence. There is a world where the Bucks have three players that win individual awards this season which would be incredible.
Brook Lopez is having a career year and it has helped the Bucks be in line for the no. 1 overall seed in the Eastern Conference. The Bucks will hopefully lock that up and the road to the finals will go through Milwaukee.
