Some players will see a lot of time at one level within the minor league system. However for 18-year-old Jackson Chourio, he is moving up the ranks pretty quickly. He was the youngest player in all of Class High A, but he will now be the youngest in Double-A ball.
For the last week of the regular AA season, the Brewers’ top prospect earned himself a promotion to the Biloxi Shuckers. Chourio was previously with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, this trip to Biloxi will be his fourth promotion of the 2022 season.
Minor league moves:
OF Jackson Chourio ➡️ Biloxi (AA)
RHPs Taylor Floyd & James Meeker ➡️ Biloxi (AA)
RHPs Victor Castaneda & Robbie Baker ➡️ Nashville (AAA)
All 5 will be active on Tuesday.#ThisIsmyCrew

Chourio’s 2022 Season
In 31 games with the T-Rats, 18-year-old Chourio batted .252/.317/.488 with eight home runs.
He appeared in 93 games across both Class A Carolina and the Timber Rattlers; Across those games, he hit .300/.354/.562 with 20 homers, 71 driven in, and 14 stolen bases. With his 20th homerun, he put himself among just four other players since 2006 who hit 20 or more home runs in a season as an 18-year-old. Other names on that list include Fernando Tatis Jr, Hudson Potts, Giancarlo Stanton, and Chris Marrero.
It’s worth noting that Chourio hit 20 in 100 games or less. Should he not get any playing time with Biloxi, which he will, he would’ve been the only player among that list to play in less than 100 games and hit 20 home-runs.
Originally, the Brewers signed Chourio as a shortstop back in 2021. He has seen time in centerfield as well. He joins a crowded, but talented outfield prospect group that the Brewers are developing with players Joey Wiemer, Sal Frelick, and recently called up Garrett Mitchell.
The Timber Rattlers’ season ended over the weekend with rainouts. Chourio will receive another week of at-bats in Double-A as the Biloxi Shuckers have six regular season games left and continue to show why he’s the No. 2 prospect leaguewide.
In such a little amount of time, the talented player has quickly made a name for himself. While we don’t know when he’ll make his major league debut, it’ll be fun to see what 2023 brings for the talented athlete.
