The Milwaukee Brewers traded ace Corbin Burnes to the Baltimore Orioles one month ago. Since then both teams have continued to add pieces to their roster. Most recently two former teammates of Burnes’ joined the Orioles by signing minor league contracts.
Kolten Wong and Julio Teheran have signed with the Baltimore Orioles.
Infielder Kolten Wong and pitcher Julio Teheran both received invites to the Orioles big league camp as non-roster invitees. Both players spent time in the big leagues last year in which Wong split time between the Mariners and Dodgers and Teheran the Brewers.
Julio Teheran was a steady force in the Milwaukee Brewers starting rotation last year.
In 2023 Julio Teheran started his Brewers career with several consecutive quality starts. Across his first six starts he pitched 35.1 innings and had a 1.53 ERA. He got ruffed up at the end of June and through July before missing all of August with an injury. His return to the big leagues in September went well, but he was a roster casualty at the end of the season and was outrighted before the post season began.
Kolten Wong had a pair of solid seasons with the Brewers.
After spending eight seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals, Kolten Wong signed a multi-year deal with Milwaukee prior to the start of the 2021 season. His first season went great as he excelled defensively, and he posted a .272/.335/.447 slash line with a 110 OPS+. A year later he didn’t play up to his standard defensively but he was still decent at the plate as he slashed .251/.339/.430 with a 117 OPS+.
During the 2022-2023 off-season Wong was traded to the Seattle Mariners. He didn’t finish the year with Seattle and ultimately joined the Los Angeles Dodgers as a depth piece for their post season run. Wong will now compete for a spot in a very talented Baltimore Orioles infield.
