The Brewers have been in Milwaukee since 1970 and have had great seasons with great players. A handful of Hall of Famers and many Milwaukee Brewers Walk of Famers too. After reaching out to Brewers fans to vote on each position, here is a list of All-Time Milwaukee Brewers at each position.
Starting Pitchers
Ace: Corbin Burnes
Pitcher #2: Ben Sheets
Pitcher #3: Teddy Higuera
Relief/Closing Pitchers
Rolling Fingers
Josh Hader
Milwaukee has had multiple eras of great pitching with a handful of Cy Youngs and other awards during memorable seasons. First, fans knew they would witness a dominant performance with starting pitchers like Burnes, Sheets, and Higuera. Then with relief/closing pitchers like Fingers and Hader, they knew the game was over before they even threw a pitch.
Infield
Catcher: Jonathan Lucroy
1st Base: Cecil Cooper (Tied with Prince Fielder)
2nd Base: Jim Gantner
3rd Base: Paul Molitor
Short Stop: Robin Yount
No ground ball was getting to the outfield with an infield like this. It is a 1982 reunion controlling the infield. This shows how good the Brewers were in the 80s. Young and Molitor are both MLB Hall of Famers and have their respective numbers retired in Milwaukee. Lucroy was the team’s backbone during a rough period of rebuilding and uncertainty. Cooper and Gantner were outstanding players that kept the 1982 team-winning games and helped make the most extensive run in team history.
Outfield
Ryan Braun
“Stormin” Gorman Thomas
Ben Ogilvie
These three outfielders are all All-Stars and have impacted Brewer’s history. Whether it’s Braun making a diving play or Ogilvie with his speed running down a fly ball. Thomas was a key piece on the 1982 team with his power numbers. This outfield would be fun to see.
