The Green Bay Packers are going to have some tough decisions to make this off-season. With the way the 2022 NFL season has gone so far, it seems like nothing is off the table. There are people who will tell you a Rodgers trade doesn’t make sense for various reasons. However, given what we’ve seen over the last few years, Aaron Rodgers, the organization, or both could decide it is time to move on. Spencer Nelson from Zone Coverage thinks the New England Patriots could be a dark horse to trade for Aaron Rodgers.
Could Aaron Rodgers Be A Target For Bill Belichick And The Patriots?
After the Packers beat the Patriots 27-24 in overtime earlier this year, Bill Belichick and Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers shared a lengthy moment — embracing in the middle of the field and chatting before making their way to their respective locker rooms. After the game, Rodgers admitted to reporters that this was probably the last time he would match up with the long-time Patriots coach in his decorated career.
Spencer shared his thoughts as to why an Aaron Rodgers and New England partnership would work:
Yes, it sounds crazy, but Belichick and Rodgers have a huge affection for one another and both of them have something to prove. Deep down I believe Rodgers believes that if he had what Tom Brady had he could’ve easily achieved the same success. Here’s his chance. Bill Belichick could do the same. Give him another good quarterback and all of a sudden he has a chance to tie or surpass Tom Brady‘s Super Bowl total. This would be crazy but it makes a ton of sense. One of the greatest defensive minds of all time and one of the smartest, least turnover-prone quarterbacks in the history of the NFL. Although the least likely, this is the most fun and best match available.
So what would a trade like this have to look like? This is my proposed deal for both sides:
New England Patriots Receive:
- QB Aaron Rodgers
Green Bay Packers Receive:
- 2023 First-Round Draft Pick
- 2023 Third-Round Draft Pick
- 2024 First-Round Draft Pick
- 2024 Third-Round Draft Pick

So the packers have one bad season and you all are having a meltdown. When they were winning you all were putting Rodgers on the MVP list. Now that they are having a bad season you want to trade him you all must be a bunch of idiots. Give this team a chance to grow with each other. They will get better so you can sleep at night again.
Right on!!
