In February 2011, a 27 year old Aaron Rodgers led the Green Bay Packers to a Super Bowl victory. The question then was, how many more can he win? The question has shifted to, can he simply win one more? The opportunities have been there but 4 losses in the NFC Championship Game have hurt. A lot of them have been fluky losses too which sting even more. As Aaron Rodgers enters 2022, he knows the Super Bowl window is closing.
Why Aaron Rodgers Will Win Another Super Bowl
The Packers have an extremely talented roster especially on defense. The Super Bowl team had a top defense. This is something the Packers teams of the past decade have not had. The Packers defense looked bad week 1 against the Vikings. However, a lot of the problems were poor communication, something that is expected to get ironed out. If the Packers can field a top 10 defense, this will help Rodgers and the offense. The running back tandem of Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon also helps. Being able to lean on the run game in January is vital. James Starks came out of nowhere in the playoff run and was a huge piece of the Packers getting to the Super Bowl. Lastly, the NFC is wide open especially this year. The Packers could have a subpar season and still find themselves in a Super Bowl.
Why Aaron Rodgers Will Not Win Another Super Bowl
The roster is inexperienced. It was clear on Sunday that the rapport with the receivers was simply not there. This is something that can develop but it needs to develop quickly. If Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson do not get on the same page as Rodgers, the Packers have little chance of making a deep playoff run. The Packers also need to get lucky with some injuries. They have had terrible injury luck over the past three years. David Bakhtiari, Elgton Jenkins, Jaire Alexander, and many more players have missed significant time. If the Packers are going to make a big run, they need their players to be healthy.
It is hard to win in this league. The one and done nature of the playoffs leads to greater chance of upsets. Aaron Rodgers knows his Super Bowl window is closing. The hope is that he can put together one more magical season before he retires.
