Aaron Rodgers: Detroit Lions Rookie Who Intercepted Him 3 Times Has Bold Claim about Future Hall of Fame Quarterback

Aaron Rodgers is known for taking care of the football. In 2022, he uncharacteristically threw 12 interceptions. It was just the third time in his career that he had more than 10 interceptions in a season and was the most he threw since 2008, his first year as a starting quarterback when he had 13. The only other season in which Rodgers had double-digit interceptions was 2010. That year, he threw 11 and the Packers won the Super Bowl.

One of the more interesting facts about Rodgers’ interception total this season is that three of them were made by Detroit Lions rookie Kerby Joseph. No other player has picked Rodgers off three times in a season. Joseph appeared on Good Morning Football recently and made a bold claim about his success against the future Hall of Fame quarterback.

Kerby Joseph Said He Could Have Picked Off Aaron Rodgers Six Times

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers did not play well against the Detroit Lions in 2022. In fact, they did not really play well at all. Regardless, Joseph went on Good Morning Football and explain why he believes he should have doubled his interception total on Rodgers this past season:

“I got him three times, but I’m not gonna lie, it should’ve been five. That last game, I dropped that first one, and then that second one got called back. Actually, it should have been six! That one-hander on that fourth down or third down, I could get that.”

It was certainly a memorable rookie season for Joseph. Rodgers has the best touchdown-to-interception ratio in NFL history, and the young Lions defensive back picked him off three times! What is very interesting about this interview is that Joseph displays the same memory and insight into past plays as the quarterback that he bested. Rodgers is known for being able to recall specific plays from games months and even years after they happen. Joseph displayed that same ability in his interview, showing that he is an incredibly intelligent defensive back.

Of note, Joseph also said he carries that last ball he intercepted around with him. Hopefully he does not get many more trophies from Jordan Love as the years go by.
