The wait continues for the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets to finalize a trade for Aaron Rodgers. Since Rodgers made it clear his intention was to play for the Jets both sides seem to be standing firm on their offers. Reports suggest that the Packers are standing on their asking price and the Jets don’t want to overpay.
Regardless of when the trade happens, the Jets’ offseason was centered around Rodgers and they even added Allen Lazard. Today, Calais Campbell revealed that Aaron Rodgers also recruited him to the Jets. He told Josina Anderson on “The Crew.”
“The Jets made an almost equal offer as the Flacons. It was kind of crazy cause Aaron Rodgers texted me “Hey, come on man, let’s go win a championship together.” It was appealing having Aaron Rodgers text you talking about winning a Super Bowl together, but when it came down to it I just had this gut feling that Atlanta was a special place.”

Aaron Rodgers Recruiting for the Jets
One of Aaron Rodgers’ qualms with the Packers during their standoff in 2021 was the fact that he wanted to have more say in the roster. More specifically, he felt that players came to Green Bay to play with him and he had value when it came to recruiting players to Green Bay.
There were reports that he was talking to players around the league early in free agency trying to get them to the Jets. Campbell’s story confirms that at least he was recruited by Rodgers. Technically, Rodgers is still a member of the Green Bay Packers as of this moment. However, it is unlikely that a deal doesn’t get done. Rodgers has publicly stated he intends on playing for the New York Jets and the Packers gave him permission to meet with the team in March.
Calais Campbell Stats

Campbell has been one of the best defenders of the last decade, so it is no shock that Rodgers would want a guy like him on his team. In his 15-year career, Campbell has collected plenty of accolades loaded up the stat sheet.
- 1x First-Team All-Pro
- 2x Second-Team All-Pro
- 6x Pro Bowl Selection
- 227 games
- 57 passes defended
- 16 forced fumbles
- 99.0 sacks
- 165 tackles for a loss
- 3 touchdowns
Campbell would have been a good addition to a loaded Jets defense, but he chose to sign with the Falcons. He will play on his fourth team in 2023 as he looks to return to his All-Pro level of play.
