The seemingly long wait to see Christian Watson on the field could be nearing an end. Christian Watson was one of the players that fans were most excited to see during training camp. Unfortunately for fans, they were going to have to wait a little longer to see #9 in action. Christian Watson and the Packers decided that he should have surgery on his knee. This came after he dealt with lingering soreness during OTAs. A few weeks later we find out whether or not Watson may suit up for the pre-season finale Vs Kansas City.
Will Christian Watson play during week 3 of pre-season?
Kyle Malzhan asked Packers rookie WR Christian Watson if he’s expecting to play in Green Bay’s final preseason game this week vs Kansas City:
“I don’t know yet. As of right now, it’s not really something that we had planned on doing. I’m feeling really good, but only time will tell.”
The rookie WR went on to say: “I’m just controlling what I can control. For me – that’s just coming back & getting back into football shape. Just making sure I’m perfectly healthy for the 20 plus games that we’re going to play this season.”
What does this mean going forward?
The fact that Watson is being considered to play for the pre-season finale is big. It, at the very minimum, shows that the surgery was a success. The live practice reps he has been is a testament to that. While it must be acknowledged that live game play is a different animal than practice reps, it is a great sign to see him being able to apply pressure to that knee with no hiccups. Whether or not Watson plays in the pre-season finale, he certainly seems to be trending in the right direction.
