In a roller-coaster swing of events, now again Brewers catcher Jacob Nottingham has been reacquired from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for cash.
Nottingham, who has no minor league options, was designated for assignment at the tail of of April. His contract was picked up by his former team the Seattle Mariners. However, the Brewers really did not want Nottingham to leave.
Gone, but Nott forgotten! Catcher @JacobNottingham, who was designated for assignment by the #Brewers on April 22 and claimed by the Mariners on April 28, has been re-acquired from Seattle in exchange for cash. Nottingham is in the lineup today against the Dodgers. pic.twitter.com/8W03AFziYu

When Manny Pina was placed on the injured list with a toe fracture, Luke Maile was first called up to the big league club. At that time Nottingham was still attempting to clear waivers. Unfortunately shortly afterwards Omar Narvaez found himself on the injured list with a hamstring strain. This resulted in Mario Feliciano getting a promotion as the Brewers second catcher.
The hype around Feliciano is real, but his first big league stint was short lived. Although he did score the game winning run against the Dodgers, the Brewers clearly want Nottingham on the big league club at this time.
Nottingham proved to be an impact player last September and will look to provide a similar spark this year.
Nottingham is a very good defensive catcher and his game calling ability is well respected. At the plate he does possesses good power potential. In 20 games last September he hit four home runs. He likely will not hit for a high batting average but the ability to change the game with one swing of the bat is how he can contribute offensively.
Stories like Nottingham’s are not one’s that you see very often, but given the Brewers injury situation they wanted to keep a player with familiarity in their organization. He likely will remain with the Brewers until both Pina and Narvaez are healthy again.
