#1 Cleveland Browns

This is one that is just a rumor but it makes a lot of sense. Leonhard has some history with the Browns as he played for them in his final season as a pro in 2014. The Browns also have some excellent talent on defense. Myles Garrett is one of the league’s premier pass rushers and Leonhard has shown he can get the most out of the talent he has. The Browns are in need of some coaching upgrades after a disappointing season. The amount of talent paired with the need makes Cleveland one of the great landing spots for Jim Leonhard.

#2 Alabama Crimson Tide

This is one that has gained some traction this week. While Leonhard does not have any Alabama connections, his pedigree at Wisconsin has apparently earned him a look from Nick Saban. The Crimson Tide have often been known for suffocating defenses but not this year. This year, Alabama gave up a lot of points and a lot of yards. This had to drive Saban nuts and he is looking for any way to make sure that doesn’t happen this season. Alabama would be the most interesting of the landing spots for Jim Leonhard.

#3 Green Bay Packers

Okay I know I said that it is unlikely that he comes to Green Bay as the defensive coordinator but that doesn’t mean that the Packers can’t be a landing spot. Here’s my thought process. There are not many high-caliber jobs available. Many positions that Leonhard would be good for have been filled. We know LaFleur likes Leonhard. Why not bring him in to help coach the safeties? What could he do for someone like Darnell Savage? If he doesn’t land a DC job, the Packers could be one of the great landing spots for Jim Leonhard.

As the NFL season ends, more DC positions may open meaning there might be more openings that Leonhard could fit in. For now, I think these are the best landing spots for Jim Leonhard.
