The run on wide receivers during the first round of the NFL Draft was insane. A quick synopsis: WR Drake London (drafted ATL), WR Garrett Wilson (drafted NYJ), WR Chris Olave (drafted NO), WR Jameson Williams (drafted DET), WR Marquise Brown (traded AZ), WR Jahan Dotson (drafted WAS), WR AJ Brown (traded PHI), WR Treylon Burks (drafted TEN). Because of this Green Bay took two players to bolster an already great defense. LB Quay Walker and DT Devonte Wyatt, both from Georgia.
Seeing two trades in round one, both unexpected, leaves room for trades in round number two. Deebo Samuel was reportedly targeted by the Lions and the Jets during round number one, but the 49ers said no. There have been little to no reports however, of teams reaching out for Terry McLaurin. This could mean one of three things: The Commanders aren’t trading him (however we would have heard that report, much like Deebo), no teams have reached out to trade for McLaurin (highly unlikely), or there is something in the works.
The Packers were reportedly in on the Marquise Brown trade, until they learned it would cost a first round pick:
“In” on every proven WR that’s been made available…
Wash takes a first round WR. Is Terry McLaurin an actual possibility?

The Commanders drafted a wide receiver last night when they didn’t have to:
It's ok Washington. You don't need Terry McLaurin anymore.
He's gonna be great in Green Bay! https://t.co/2JCDeQMaC4

- WR Terry McLaurin
- 2023 fourth round pick
Commander receive:
- 2022 second round draft pick
- 2023 first round draft pick
- 2022 third round draft pick
This type of trade would still net the Commanders a first round pick, but wouldn’t limit Green Bay’s ability to pick three times in the top 60 this year. Green Bay would also be able to keep a second round pick this year and possibly double down on an offensive weapon.
