With less than five seconds remaining in regulation, the Golden Gophers missed a free throw down by two points and they grabbed an offensive rebound and missed the shot as time expired.
The Badgers got away with one in BIG10 Conference play and that is what good teams do. Find a way to get lucky on the road and win the game. With the win, Wisconsin improved to 15-4 overall and 7-1 in BIG10 Conference play this season. As for Minnesota, they dropped to 12-7 on the season and 3-5 in BIG10 Conference play.
For Greg Gard’s squad, he had three players score in double figures. Tyler Wahl led the way with 16 points, three rebounds, and four assists. AJ Storr recorded a double-double for the Wisconsin Badgers with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Max Klesmit also added 11 points for the Badgers. He has been one of the most consistent players on this basketball team this season. Klesmit is one of the reasons why they are good this year in conference play.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers Only Have Two Players Score in Double Figures Against the Wisconsin Badgers
Elijah Hawkins was one of two players in the game against Wisconsin for Minnesota who scored in double figures. He scored 16 points, grabbed five rebounds, and recorded nine assists. The other player for the Golden Gophers who scored in double figures with Dawson Garcia with 10 points.
They took this game down to the wire. Minnesota did a good job of not quitting against Wisconsin. The Badgers avoided another upset on the road and this was a very good character win for this basketball team. They learned from last Tuesday’s loss against the Penn State Nittany Lions.
