Coming into the 2022 NFL season, everyone knew that AJ Dillon was going to be an important piece for the Green Bay Packers’ offense. While he put together a solid all-around year, many fans were not satisfied with the productive he ended up with. Despite that fact, Dillon did put up some very impressive statistics along the way this year.
Throughout the entire season, Dillon ended up carrying the football 186 times for 770 yards and seven touchdowns. He also caught 28 passes for 206 yards. Those numbers are extremely good for a second-team running back who plays behind a true superstar like Aaron Jones.
With that being said, Ian Hartitz, citing Pro Football Focus, shared a very intriguing and impressive statistic for Dillon from the 2022 season. He noted that Dillon was only one of two running backs in the entire NFL who gained two or more yards after contact on at least 70 percent of their attempts. The only other was Tyler Allgeier, who finished two percent above Dillon.
What’s Next For AJ Dillon And The Packers?
Everyone has come to love the running style that Dillon has played with since joining the Packers. He runs violently and is more than happy to run through someone instead of around them. That has come into play quite often for the Packers in short-yardage and goal line situations.
At just 24 years of age, the former second-round pick of the Packers has an extremely bright future ahead of him. His contract will be running out after next season, which will force a decision for Green Bay. Hopefully, he will not be a second coming of Jamaal Williams, who left for the Detroit Lions a couple of years ago and came back to bite the Packers this season.

Only time will tell what the future holds for Dillon in Green Bay, but this number is one to be proud of for him. The fans should also appreciate what this says about the young running back. He is not scared of contact and will still find ways to pick up yardage even when getting hit.
It will be very interesting to see what the Packers’ offense looks like next season. Everyone is wondering what the future holds for Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay and whether or not he could end up being traded. If Rodgers is moved, there could be quite a few other moves coming to shuffle up the roster.
Expect to see Dillon back next season regardless of what happens. He’s on a favorable contract and is still very young for the production he has been putting up. It would not be shocking to see the Packers even consider working on a contract extension for the rough runner in the near future.
