Recently, the Wisconsin football staff added a dynamic defensive lineman to their radar after offering a scholarship.
King Liggins, a 2026 three-star defensive lineman from Illinois, received a scholarship from the Wisconsin football staff early last week. Liggins is a big, physical defender that is only just scratching the surface of both his playing time and potential. With another season under his belt, Liggins could propel himself into the position to become a four-star recruit.
Wisconsin Football Target King Liggins Displays Physicality, Grind On the Field
With a scholarship offer from the Wisconsin football staff, rising 2026 three-star defensive lineman King Liggins continues to draw major attention. The recruit currently holds 12 scholarship offers, and provided a list of schools that have been in the closest contact. Thus far, Liggins states, “I’ve been in contact with Kansas State, Kansas, Iowa, Iowa State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Louisville the most.”
Liggins noted that the process has been “very good” so far and he has enjoyed continuing to develop relationships with different coaches. When asked about what programs would be “high interest” for the recruit, Liggins stated, “Probably Michigan State, Kansas State, and Wisconsin.”
While it is still early, Liggins noted that he enjoyed his short time on campus in Madison. The defensive lineman stated, “I love the staff and the campus and I can’t wait to be back on campus.”
King Liggins: “My Drive and Work Ethic to Grind Every Day and Get Better”
For Liggins, the difference on the field is not just his size or play style, but also his drive and work ethic. Liggins stated, “What sets me apart is my drive and work ethic to grind every day and get better.”
The defensive lineman has a drive and willingness to get better every single day, which is both admirable and also the attitude that collegiate programs want to see. In particular, major programs love to see the attitude that Liggins brings to the table because of how coachable he is and the fact that he does not need someone else to motivate him everyday.
Can the Wisconsin Badgers Football Staff Land Liggins In the Future?
While the recruitment of Liggins is only just beginning, it is never too early for the staff to look forward at how to land the recruit. Maintaining a close relationship with Liggins is going to be key since the 12 scholarship offers he holds currently is only the surface. The defensive lineman also has two more years of high school football, which will bring in plenty more programs.
