    Wisconsin Football: Major 2025 LB Target Nearing Commitment Following Visit

    After recently naming the Wisconsin football team in his top three programs, a massive recruit is reportedly near a decision.

    Mason Posa, a four-star 2025 linebacker from New Mexico, has been one of the priority targets for the Wisconsin football staff. The linebacker has three expert predictions to land with the Badgers, and after releasing his top three schools he could be close to a commitment. Posa would be a potential huge pick-up for the Wisconsin football staff if he commits to Madison.

    The Wisconsin football staff has worked extremely hard all around this recruiting cycle in order to land their priority targets. In particular, the Badgers have put an incredible amount of effort forth to recruit a player who truly fits the play style and mentality of Wisconsin football.

    2025 four-star linebacker Mason Posa has been on the Badgers radar for quite some time, and now the Badgers are one of three schools left in the race. Posa, who is ranked as the 18th linebacker overall in the class, currently sits as the top-overall recruit in the state of New Mexico. The linebacker is widely considered one of the top playmakers available in the 2025 recruiting class.

    Posa is a lethal, tackling machine on the field and consistently finds his way around the ballcarrier when the play ends. At 6-foot-3-inches tall, 213-pounds the wrestler and linebacker Posa has certainly caught the eye of Head Coach Luke Fickell with his build and play. This past season, the linebacker recorded 99 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, seven sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and an interception to cap it off.

    The elite athlete is more than just a linebacker as he is an all-around defensive threat on the football field. Posa can intercept the ball in man coverage, hit stick a running back for a forced fumble, or chase the quarterback all around the back field. There are no real limitations for Posa on the defensive side of the ball given his physical skills and football intelligence.

    For the Wisconsin Badgers football staff, everything they can do to land the linebacker has been done, and now it becomes a waiting game. Posa has an official visit this coming weekend with the Oregon Ducks, and then two weeks later he will travel to Texas A&M. The linebacker has a great amount of time to think about his decision and likely could make a commitment announcement before traveling to Texas.

    Distance has not been an issue in the recruitment of Posa, but rather it has been a process of convincing the recruit Wisconsin is his best chance at making the NFL. If the linebacker were to commit to the Badgers, a duo of Tackett Curtis and Posa could become a serious nightmare.
