No. 21 Wisconsin basketball finished their schedule this week with a huge performance on Saturday against the Iowa Hawkeyes at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The Badgers doubled down on their mastery of Iowa in the 2024-25 college basketball season with a 74-63 win.
Although it was not as big of a shootout as the Badgers’ 116-85 win over the Hawkeyes in the schools’ first meeting this season last January, Wisconsin basketball still made it rain from deep. The Badgers knocked down 12 of their 35 attempts from deep in the rematch. With that shooting performance, the Badgers managed to set a new Wisconsin basketball record.

John Tonje and John Blackwell led the Badgers with 22 and 19 points, respectively, while each draining three 3-pointers. Max Klesmit had nine points with two triples while four other Badgers had a made shot from downtown. Wisconsin didn’t shoot very well against Iowa, recording just a 44.4 effective field goal percentage but it was enough to get the Badgers their third win in a row.
So far in Big Ten play, the Badgers are leading the conference with a 39.1 3-point percentage in league play. They are also second in the Big Ten with a 55.9 effective field goal percentage.
It’s not about to get much easier for Wisconsin after beating the Hawkeyes, as the Badgers are scheduled to face Matt Painter’s No. 7 Purdue Boilermakers at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette on Monday.
