Bob Uecker may not be able to call games anymore for the Milwaukee Brewers but he will be on the field this time through jersey patches especially created by the baseball club to commemorate his contribution to the franchise and to the sports.

The Brewers announced that the team will wear a jersey made special with a patch dedicated to the long-time Brewers broadcaster who passed away on January 16 at the age of 90.

Brewers president of business operations Rick Schlesinger said in a statement that the gesture is meant to remember the legendary Uecker every time the team take on the field.

“We miss Bob every day, and all the more as we approach our first season without him at our side,” he said.

“Ueck was a great friend to all of us. He was a fixture at the ballpark and in our lives. We cannot fill the hole that his absence has created, but the jersey patch will be a way to honor his memory whenever we take the field.”

Fans love the Milwaukee Brewers Bob Uecker patch

Fans, players, team officials did not waste time to pay tribute to Uecker.

“Ueck was the light of the Brewers, the soundtrack of our summers, the laughter in our hearts, and his passing is a profound loss,” the Brewers said in a statement back in January.

“He was the heart and soul of Wisconsin and a dear friend. Bob loved people; his presence warmed every room and he had a way of welcoming all of us into his world as if we were lifelong friends.”

The Brewers will wear this Bob Uecker jersey patch throughout the 2025 season, including Spring Training.

The gold and navy plaid print honors the colorful sportscoats Uecker wore at various times during his life.

Others are calling for the patches to become permanent or be put in other merchandise.
