Wisconsin Badgers women’s basketball has announced that Marisa Moseley will not return as the their head coach after tendering her resignation.
University of Wisconsin-Madison athletics department confirmed the news on Sunday, a few days after they wrapped up their 2024-2025 season with a 54-81 loss to Iowa Hawkeyes.

“Marisa informed me this past Friday that she would be stepping down,” said UW Director of Athletics Chris McIntosh via the program’s website.
“I want to thank Marisa for the commitment she demonstrated as head coach of our women’s basketball program. She had a clear passion for coaching our student-athletes and she worked hard to bring success to our program. I wish her well as she transitions to the next chapter of her life.”
For her part, Moseley expressed gratitude to the school.

“It has been a privilege to lead the program at Wisconsin. I am grateful for the student-athletes, coaches and staff in our program who have put in so much time and effort. I am appreciative, also, of the Badger fans who supported us at the Kohl Center and around the country.”
Marisa Moseley’s tenure with Wisconsin Badgers
Moseley, who joined the team in 2021, has a relative success in her four years with the Wisconsin Badgers.
Her greatest accomplishment was sending the team to the 2024 WNIT quarterfinals which was the program’s first post-season appearance in 14 years.
She finished her coaching career with the Badgers with a 47-63 record.

Her last year, however, was a step down from the last as they finished with a 4-14 record.
She was also accused early this year of abuse by her former player. The UW program, however, sided with her, and they moved on from the issue.
