The Wisconsin Badgers football team watched their prized 2024 recruit from afar recently as he dazzled at the Rivals Football Camp.
Kyan Berry-Johnson, a three-star receiver from Illinois, attended the Cincinnati Rivals Football Camp and had an incredible showing. Berry-Johnson announced his Badgers commitment on April 17 after visiting Madison and setting his official visit. The receiver has been busy since his commitment, visiting recruitment camps and playing against other top recruits.

One of the top 2024 Wisconsin football recruits has been just as busy as the team. Berry-Johnson is largely believed to be one of the top receivers in his class, despite his three-star rankings. Some recruiting analysts, such as Evan Flood and Jon McNamara, are perplexed at the current ranking of the receiver. Regardless of how many stars he finishes high school with, Berry-Johnson is expected to make an impact for the Badgers right away.
Currently, the exceptional receiver is ranked as the 117th receiver in the nation and the 20th overall recruit in the state of Illinois. Berry-Johnson has also appeared on the national list at 905th overall in the 2024 recruiting class. Berry-Johnson exploded onto the scene this past year with an impressive Junior year at Bolingbrook High School.
Berry-Johnson is a shifty receiver with an incredible speed boost that allows him to shred past opposing defenses. Coming in at 5-foot-10-inches, 165 pounds, Berry-Johnson is elusive in the open field and provides the most for his team when he can get into those situations. The receiver is also a talented route runner and has the ability to create separation on his routes alone. Along with his ability on offense, Berry-Johnson is also an accomplished returner with the potential to score at any moment.
As every recruit understands, there are aspects of their game they must develop to have more success at the next level. For Berry-Johnson, the receiver still has room to fill out his frame without losing speed or quickness. By adding more weight, Berry-Johnson can combine his speed and physicality to turn himself into a human bowling ball. The receiver also sometimes struggles with his field awareness, which will come as he plays more at the next level, especially.
Wisconsin Badgers Excited For Future At Wide Receiver
Between the success of the Wisconsin Badgers football staff in the recruiting portal and the progress being made in practice, the Badgers will display a receiving room unlike any other. Coach Luke Fickell and offensive coordinator Phil Longo intend on turning Wisconsin into an offensive powerhouse, despite a lackluster showing in their Spring game. Wisconsin will need to score significantly more to compete with some of the more high-powered offenses in the Big Ten.
Coach Luke Fickell has taken the time to address this situation by recruiting multiple receivers to the school, including Berry-Johnson and USC transfer CJ Williams. Wisconsin has also addressed its offensive line with an abundance of transfers that have come in to solidify the trenches for the Badgers. Fickell is determined to create the most well-rounded program he can, and that will begin with the addition of other well-rounded recruits.
Berry-Johnson has an amazing flash of speed, yet he can still do everything he needs to on the field. The accomplished receiver should fit perfectly into the Wisconsin Badgers offense in the future.
