Wisconsin Badgers football and coach Luke Fickell will have their hands full coming in to the next season as his team made a disappointing finish this year.
First and foremost, they have to find replacement for players, seven of them, who decided to enter their name in the football transfer portal. They are defensive lineman Curtis Neal, wide receiver Cameron Miller, quarterback Cole LaCrue, outside linebacker Leon Lowery, centerbacks Amare Snowden and Jonas Duclona, and defensive back Justin Taylor.
Another significant work to be accomplished is the hiring of a new offensive coordinator after they decided to part ways with Phil Longo two weeks ago.
Fickell himself was the one who fired Longo who joined the team in 2023.
After continuing to evaluate the program, I decided we are not where we need to be and believe this decision is in the best interest of the team. I appreciate Phil’s commitment to helping us build our program over the past two seasons and wish him well moving forward.
How’s the search going for them? Fickell said they are being meticulous about it.
“It’s an ongoing process. I’d like to tell you in three days, we’re going to do this thing. We have to do our due diligence. We can’t just jump into this thing. I wanted it done yesterday…that just isn’t the case,” he said as quoted by CBS sports writer Evan Flood.
Aside from OC, they are also looking for a new quarterback coach.
Wisconsin Badgers football players say yes 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl
Badgers may have crashed out this 2024 but supporters still have something exciting to look forward to in 2025.
Safety Hunter Worker and offensive lineman Jack Nelson have been invited for the Reese’s Senior Bowl and the pair accepted it.
The Reese’s Senior Bowl is an unofficial All-Star Game for college football where seniors have a chance to show their wares ahead of the NFL Draft.
Eleven other Badgers were invited for the event including quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, wide receiver Will Pauling, offensive linemen Joe Huber and Riley Mahlman, running back Chez Mellusi, linebacker Jaheim Thomas, outside linebacker John Pius, and defensive back RJ Delancy III.
