    Anna Smrek Signs With Same International Team As 1 Former Wisconsin Badgers Teammate

    Anna Smrek, former Wisconsin Badgers volleyball alum, has officially signed with the Vero Volley Milano.  A few days ago, there were reports that she was signing internationally, but now that has been confirmed by the signing team.  In doing so, she follows in the footsteps of one of her former teammates from UW-Madison.

    According to a team news report, Anna Smrek signing with the Vero Volleyu Milano is official.  Smrek was initially drafted in the Pro Volleyball Federation’s draft in November, but now will be continuing her career overseas.

    Former Wisconsin Badgers volleyball player Dana Rettke played for the Vero Volley Milano

    Dana Rettke, former Badgers volleyball player and former tallest player in program history until Anna Smrek came around, played internationally for Vero Volley Milano from 2022-2024.  She is now playing in the Turkish league for the Eczacibasi Sports Club.  Smrek and Rettke were teammates in 2020 and 2021.
