Green Bay Packers Named Ideal Landing Spot for 3x Pro Bowler Who Was Just Released by Lions

The Green Bay Packers are entering Week 18 at 11-5 and with a spot in the NFL Playoffs already clinched. However, the are also entering the week a little less healthy than they probably would have liked. Two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander, who has not played since Week 11 due to a torn PCL, is having season-ending knee surgery.

Additionally, Quay Walker, Evan Williams, Andre Dillard, and Zayne Anderson have been ruled out with various injuries. Two of these players, Williams and Anderson, are safeties, leaving that particular position rather thin for their matchup against the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

With the postseason quickly approaching, and no guarantee that either will be healthy in time, on NFL analyst thinks the Packers should sign a former three-time Pro Bowler who recently hit the market.

NFL Analyst Believes the Green Bay Packers Would Be a Good Landing Spot for Jamal Adams

Detroit Lions safety Jamal Adams (25) runs off the field after a play against Green Bay Packers during the first half at Ford Field in Detroit on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024.

In a recent article posted by Bleacher Report, NFL analyst Khristopher Knox listed eight current NFL free agents that he believes could help teams headed to the postseason. He also listed which teams he believes would be the best landing spots for each player.

The first player on his list was three-time Pro Bowl safety Jamal Adams, who was released by the Detroit Lions earlier this week. Knox believes that Green Bay would be an ideal landing spot for him:

“The Green Bay Packers may also want to eye Adams for depth at safety, where Javon Bullard (ankle) and (quad) are battling injuries. As a bonus, Adams might be able to give Green Bay a little insight into Detroit’s defensive plan should the two NFC North rivals meet for a third time this season.”

Adams, who was signed by the Tennessee Titans this offseason, previously faced Green Bay in Week Three. That ended up being the final game he played in Tennessee as he was released off of injured reserve. The Lions signed Adams afterwards and assigned him to their practice squad. He appeared in two games for Detroit, including their last matchup against the Packers.

While there is no doubt that Adams’ best days are behind him (he has not made the Pro Bowl since 2020), the Packers are getting razor thin at safety.

Perhaps signing someone with his experience would not be the worst idea, though opposing quarterbacks do have a 118.7 passer rating when targeting him this year.
