May of this year will be a busy one for the Wisconsin Badgers football program as they are scheduled for an official visit by Ryan Hopkins, a three-star recruit eligible for 2026.
Hopkins plays for Mater Dei in Sta. Ana, California and is ranked 28th overall QB by 247 Sports in his batch.
His recruitment is personally handled by offensive coordinator. Head coach Luke Fickell also contributed in making a pitch.
“Coach Guiton has been great,” the young QB said in an interview with Badger247. “I’ve gotten to speak with coach Grimes (Jeff Grimes). I’ve been on a ZOOM call with the entire staff. I’ve even gotten on the phone with coach Fickell (Luke Fickell).
Hopkins expressed desire to a build a relationship with the team.
“It’s been good, learning how they see me fitting into what they do. I’m looking forward to building this relationship. It’s going well.”
Wisconsin Badgers’ relentless effort to keep him
This is not the first time Hopkins and the Badgers connected.
The Mater Dei QB has been under the program’s radar since October last year although the difference is that it was fired Phil Longo who recruited him.
Longo has been given the pink slip and it is fortunate for the Badgers that Hopkins is not changing his mind like 2026 quarterback commit Jarin Mock who changed his mind after the firing.
Hopkins, who stands at 6’3 and weighs 195 pounds, also has offers from Arizona Wildcats, California Golden Bears, Kentucky Wildcats, and Michigan State Spartans.

The Badgers are leaving no stones unturned as they also paid a home visit last January. The high school player was left impressed by what he heard from the team.
“They really are building this offense off more run style, and I feel like that’s definitely Wisconsin,” he said. “They get these big offensive linemen and these fast, big running backs.
“And I feel like I can make throws and just make a play with my feet as well, so I feel like I would fit pretty well into the scheme of things over there that they’re doing.”
