The Wisconsin Badgers have lost 44-25 against the Nebraska Cornhuskers, allowing the program to earn bowl eligibility moving forward.
The Badgers currently are 5-6 after firing offensive coordinator Phil Longo in hopes of making changes on offense. One week is hard to install any changes, and the Wisconsin offense looked very similar to how it looked all season. However, the defense looked worse and many players made crucial, costly penalties that ultimately led to the loss.
Wisconsin is in an incredible awkward position, with a win desperately needed against Minnesota for a multitude of reasons. The Wisconsin Badgers have the third-longest win streak in the FBS currently and aim to extend the historic streak. Ending the streak, which is very possible, could be an unfortunate blemish on the career of coach Luke Fickell and the program after being hired with such promise.
Becoming a bowl team is something that while it may seem insignificant, will mean a lot to the current players on the team. Often times recruits can be understanding and stick with a commitment despite a losing season from the team. However, the players on the roster might not be so understanding and the chances of losing players will increase with a missed bowl game.
Often, great things take time and Fickell has asked for patience throughout the process as the coach works to build a program, not just a team. The Badgers went 7-6 last season with a narrow bowl game loss to the LSU Tigers that displayed plenty of promise. Wisconsin has arguably went backwards this year with some particularly ugly losses to Iowa and Nebraska.
The loss to Nebraska is also significant as it was newly named a trophy game and given the Freedom Trophy. Nebraska won the trophy for the first time in nine years this season, and the first time ever since the trophy was created.
Wisconsin Badgers Fans Upset With Staff, Performance Following Difficult Loss
The Wisconsin Badgers fans have been vocal about the struggles of the team all year, but many people appeared to have had their frustrations boil over during the loss.
Between the team struggling with simple mental errors to the offense stalling when they needed to score the most, fans were frustrated. Quarterback Braedyn Locke also extended his interception streak despite looking like he would finally move past it.
Wisconsin Badgers football is a disgusting black-mark on the entire state. They should consider firing everyone involved with the program, cutting all of the players, and turning Camp Randall Stadium into a botanical garden.

Wisconsin EMBARRASSED on the road vs Nebraska 44-25 one week after Fickell fired OC Phil Longo in an obvious self-preservation move. He should fire himself because this program has fallen to new lows under his leadership. Enough beating around the bush – he’s not the guy

So Oregon can barely move the ball but Nebraska is able to do that
Okay!

Give Luke some time and he will have a solid football team. “Rome wasn’t built overnight.” He’s too good a coach not to get things humming. The fanbase needs to stop trying to be Monday morning quarterbacks.
