Joe Ross signed a Major League deal with the Milwaukee Brewers prior to the start of the 2024 season.  This contract came as a bit of a surprise because prior to that he had last pitched in the big leagues in 2021.  He ended up having a bounce back season, became a free agent at seasons end, and now is back in the NL East as he has signed with a contending team within that division.

Across six total seasons with the Washington Nationals, Joe Ross pitched to a 4.26 ERA.  He opted out of the 2020 season and then went on to cover 108 innings for the Nationals during the 2021 season.  Unfortunately, he did not pitch in 2022 after undergoing Tommy John surgery and pitched in just 14 minor league innings a year later in 2023.

Despite a three year gap in between big league appearances, the Milwaukee Brewers gave Joe Ross a MLB deal last winter.  His first 10 games last year came as a starter in which he had a 4.98 ERA.  A back injury then cost him three months in which afterward he operated out of the bullpen, ultimately finishing the year with a 3.77 ERA across 77 innings.

After acquiring Jesus Luzardo previously via trade, the Philadelphia Phillies added Joe Ross afterwards to strengthen their pitching depth.  Ross showed the ability to work both as a starter or reliever last year and operating however needed is the expectation looking forward to 2025.

Phillies have agreed to terms with right-hander Joe Ross to a one-year deal, sources tell @TheAthleticMLB.

Ross would fill a swingman role for the Phillies. He had a 3.77 ERA in 74 innings for Milwaukee last season.
