Wade Miley’s time with the Milwaukee Brewers has officially comes to an end, putting to rest all speculations that he will remain with the team after recovering from elbow injury.
Bob Nightengale of the USA Today reported that the veteran left-handed pitcher has decided to play in the minor league instead through the Cincinnati Reds.
“Veteran starter Wade Miley signs minor league deal with the Cincinnati Reds. He’ll earn $2.5 million on pro-rated MLB contract with $1,000 per inning maxing out at a total of $4 million with June 1 opt-out. He’s expected to return from Tommy John surgery in mid-May,” he wrote.

Miley played for the Brewers in the 2023-2024 season, his second stint, after signing a one-year $4.5 million deal with a mutual option for 2024. His stint, however, was riddled with injuries.
Brewers still re-signed him for the 2024 season worth $7 million again with a mutual option for 2025. The team declined his option for 2025.
Latest on Wade Miley’s return for 2025
The 38-year-old pitcher said that he would want to return to Milwaukee if given the chance.
“I’m not going to just sign anywhere,” he said. “I’m not doing that to my family. If I could draw it up, I would sign back in the Central (Division), preferably wearing blue. Dark blue.”
However, he cannot control the situation, especially with his injury.
He is still recovering from his elbow injury and will only make his debut by May. The opening day will be on March 27.
Miley said he is being careful with his recovery to assure he will be able to play again.
“I told the doc when this happened that I’m not dragging this thing for 14 to 16 months. I need you to understand that if it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t work out. And that’s on me. I know I’m being a little reckless for a 38-year-old. I think it can work.”
