Tom Brady announced his retirement from the NFL on social media on Wednesday morning. The announcement brings an end to one of the greatest careers in NFL history. The future Hall of Fame quarterback ends his career with seven Super Bowl victories and numerous regular season and postseason records. As fans reflect back on his career, it is interesting to see how he performed against various NFL teams. In his long, illustrious career, Brady faced the Green Bay Packers seven times in the regular season and once in the postseason.
10/13/2002: Packers 28, Patriots 10
Tom Brady first played against the Green Bay Packers back in 2002 when Brett Favre was still the quarterback. Favre threw for three touchdowns and no interceptions in a Packers’ victory. Brady, however, was not as stellar. He completed 24 of 44 passes for 183 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions.
11/19/2006: Packers 0, Patriots 35
A much different result for Tom Brady came four years later. He completed 20 of 31 passes for 244 yards and four touchdown passes in a game that the Patriots dominated in every way. Brett Favre completed just five of 15 passes, and Aaron Rodgers completed just four of 12. Neither threw a touchdown or an interception.
12/19/2010: Packers 27, Patriots 31
The long awaited “Tom Brady vs. Aaron Rodgers” matchup had to wait in this contest. Rodgers was sidelined with an injury and the Packers started Matt Flynn in this game. Flynn played well, completing 24 of 37 passes for 251 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. Brady, for his part, completed 15 of 24 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns.
11/30/2014: Packers 26, Patriots 21
This was the first game that pitted Tom Brady against Aaron Rodgers as the Packers starting quarterback. It was a true duel that lived up to all the hype. Rodgers was 24 for 38 for 368 yards and two touchdowns. Brady was 22 for 35 for 245 yards and two touchdowns.
11/4/2018: Packers 17, Patriots 31
Tom Bready reasserted his dominance over the Packers in this contest, one of the last games that Mike McCarthy coached for the Packers. Aaron Rodgers completed 24 of 43 passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns. Tom Brady completed 22 of 35 passes for 294 yards and one touchdown.
10/18/2020: Packers 10, Buccaneers 38
The first matchup for the Packers against Tom Brady as the quarterback of the Tampa Buccaneers was an awful game for Green Bay. After jumping out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter, the offense failed to score a point for the rest of the game. Rodgers was 16 of 35 for 160 yards and threw two interceptions. Tom Brady was 17 of 27 for 166 yards and threw two touchdowns.
1/24/2021: Packers 26, Buccaneers 31
The NFC Championship Game at Lambeau Field gave the Packers the chance to avenge their loss to Tom Brady and the Buccaneers earlier in the season. For a while, it looked like they might have been able to do it. Brady threw three interceptions, but also threw three touchdowns. Of course, the most important part was that it was the Buccaneers, not the Packers, who went on to win the Super Bowl.
9/25/2022: Packers 14, Buccaneers 12
The lowest scoring game in Tom Brady’s career against the Packers came this season. He completed 31 of 42 passes for 271 yards and one touchdown. Aaron Rodgers completed 27 of 35 passes for 255 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.
