The Green Bay Packers defense has been very aggressive this season thanks to safety Xavier McKinney. He has been one of the best free-agent signings that the Packers could have made this past offseason.
On Sunday, he recorded his seventh interception of the season in a 38-10 win for the Green Bay Packers over the San Francisco 49ers. McKinney still has time to get to 10 interceptions on the season.
Green Bay Packers Xavier McKinney Talks Out About Recording His Seventh Interception Of the Season
In the third quarter, McKinney picked off Brandon Allen, who was starting in place of Brock Purdy on Sunday due to injury. After the game, the former Alabama Crimson Tide safety talked to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic and said:
“They were dropping a lot of passes, so I kinda played for the tip … I kinda figured that that one probably was gonna get straight through the hands.”
This is a very interesting quote from Xavier McKinney. On the interception, the pass was intended for Deebo Samuel on the play.
Giants Didn’t Re-Sign Him In the Offseason
Many Packers fans still can’t get over the fact that they somehow landed the star safety McKinney in the offseason. McKinney was not re-signed by the New York Giants and he is on his way to the Pro Bowl this season. For some reason, Giants general manager Joe Schoen didn’t feel the need to either re-sign him or Saquon Barkley.
Barkley has a chance to win the MVP this season after having a massive performance for the Philadelphia Eagles against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night. McKinney and Barkley having great seasons elsewhere is going to get New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen fired at the end of the season. McKinney has been one of the most important parts of the Packers’ defense.
It is one of the reasons why the Packers are 8-3 and the 49ers dropped to 5-6 on the season. Green Bay should be thankful this Thanksgiving that the Giants are a dysfunctional organization right now and have no idea how to evaluate talent within their building.
