Skip Bayless Calls for Two Bucks Stars to Be Suspended After Game Three

The Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Boston Celtics 103-101 in a hard-fought Game Three. Besides Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 42-point double-double, the main story of the game was, unfortunately, the officiating. There were missed calls on both sides. The game was, indeed, very physical, and some plays by the Bucks’ stars Giannis and Bobby Portis led the controversial Skip Bayless to call for their suspensions.

    The Giannis Play

One of the reasons why Giannis Antetokounmpo is consistently in the NBA Defensive Player of the Year discussion is due to his chase down blocks. The fact of the matter is, though, that sometimes attempting a block means he ends up on the wrong end of a poster. Here is the play that got Skip Bayless up in tizzy:

    TATUM ONE-HAND SLAM ON GIANNIS 😱 pic.twitter.com/1yWRXuDukk

    — SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) May 7, 2022

As can be seen in the video, Jayson Tatum fell to the ground on the left-side of the basket. Giannis was called for the foul and Tatum awarded a free throw. However, Skip Bayless wanted Giannis ejected and suspended.

THROW GIANNIS OUT. SUSPEND HIM A GAME. WHAT WAS THE DIFFERENCE IS WHAT HE JUST DID TO JTATUM (WHO HURT HIS LEFT WRIST/HAND ON THE FALL) AND WHAT DILLON BROOKS DID??? GIANNIS BLASTED TATUM IN THE FACE WITH HIS ELBOW! OH, THAT'S RIGHT, GIANNIS IS A SUPERSTAR AND BROOKS IS BROOKS.

Easy there, Skip. The replay shows Giannis going for the ball. Even Celtics fans in the comments of Skip’s tweet were questioning his comment.

    The Bobby Portis Play

Is there anyone else in Milwaukee sports you’d rather have on your side in a fight than Bobby Portis? I cannot think of any. In any case, Giannis was fouled hard on a breakaway play that saw Celtics’ forward Grant Williams literally wrap his body around the Bucks’ star. Here was the result:

Now I don’t know about you, but all I see in this play is Bobby moving Williams away from Giannis. Sure, there’s some force there, but he is not trying to fight him. Skip, however, had a different take:

    THROW PORTIS OUT. SUSPEND HIM.

    — Skip Bayless (@RealSkipBayless) May 7, 2022

Interestingly, Bayless was silent regarding Williams’ foul of Giannis and this particularly hard foul (that was not called):

Oh well, guess Skip is always going to Skip.

Rick Bayless, can go pound rocks. Let’s see him play a Professonal Game lol. These games will get physical, when trying to control the ball. Sometimes the Ref’s are blind to some action on the court, as they are at the wrong angle or position to see things. When Bobby Portus was hit in the face/eye he came away bleeding, that should have been called it was missed. And many times some of these BB players get/or almost hit or shoved, they turn into an actor milking what happened and trying to get that call against a Milwaukee Bucks player. Some of the plays results can not be helped as their motion continues and they hit or come down on an opponant it should be a common foul. There should be 4 refs on the court. And they need to refine the process of the review and give the teams 2 coaches reviews.
