Nick Herbig Scouting Report
Per NFL Draft Buzz, Herbig has the following strengths and weaknesses:
Strengths
- He’s very good in coverage when looking into the backfield in zone coverage
- Herbig has good quickness and an excellent understanding of angles, often beating blockers to the spot
- He’s a fluid mover in pursuit as well, capable of moving down the line and making plays in pursuit
- Accelerates rapidly and has a great feel for angles. Herbig isn’t huge, but Herbig packs a pop
Weaknesses
- He’s going to struggle at the point of attack. As a pass rusher, he lacks the ideal length to ward off blockers and too often allows linemen to get into his chest
- Lacks functional strength in the pass rush, struggling to disengage and too easily pushed past the pocket

Nick Herbig in Mock Drafts
According to NFL Mock Draft Database, Herbig is a projected fifth-round pick. Herbig doesn’t necessarily pass the eye test from a physical standpoint but his game speaks for itself. He should be a steal of a pick for the team that drafts him. Below is a list of mock drafts and where they have Herbig being drafted.
- Riggo’s Rags – Fourth round: Commanders
- Steelers Depot – Sixth round: Steelers
- Still Curtain – Seventh round: Steelers
Would Nick Herbig Fit on the Packers?
Usually, I don’t love the fit of undersized linebackers on the Packers but Herbig has two big things that are different than most. First, I never discount a player who goes to the pro team in the same state as his college. There’s an emotional factor that you cannot quantify.

Second, I’ve watched the tape and Herbig always is making big plays. The Big Ten is full of big players and Herbig held up just fine. He would be a solid day 3 pick for the Packers.
