Green Bay Packers fans certainly pay attention to their rivals throughout the year. That is especially true given that the NFC North has turned into one of the best divisions in football. Having three teams with 11 or more wins last season was remarkable.
However, fans pay attention even when former rival head coaches retire.
“No Energy For Work” Packers Fans Rip Former Rival HC After Retirement Announcement (Report)
As previously reported by our very own Robin Adams:
While McCarthy is still hoping to land a head coaching job in New Orleans, his defensive coordinator from 2024 has decided to call it a career.
Mike Zimmer tells me that he will not be returning to the #Cowboys as a member of Brian Schottenheimer’s coaching staff and will likely retire from coaching in the NFL.

When Dan Quinn left the Cowboys following the 2023 season to become the head coach of the Washington Commanders, McCarthy called up his old rival from the NFC North, former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer, to take his place.
Zimmer served as Dallas’ defensive coordinator in 2024, which was his second stint with the team. He previously was on their coaching staff from 1994-2006.
In 2007, Zimmer became the defensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons, and then held the same role with the Cincinnati Bengals from 2008-2013.
Packers fans will remember him best, though, as the head coach of Vikings, a position he held from 2014-2021. During his tenure, Green Bay and Minnesota had many tough matchups, with the Packers having a slight 8-7-1 edge over the Vikings during that time.
Of course, fans were quick to react to this news:
Zimm has that new young blonde at home. No energy for work too.

Happy for Zimm. Thank you for your time.
