The Green Bay Packers are no strangers to changes in the off-season. In fact, their last few off-seasons have completely changed the direction of the franchise. Going into 2025, changes are likely to keep coming.
One of those could include a former top five draft pick.
“This Could Happen” Packers’ Odds To Sign Former Top-5 Draft Pick Sky Rocket (Report)

In the upcoming NFL offseason, the Green Bay Packers must address a few issues. Pass rush will be one of those needs.
His first year as defensive coordinator, Jeff Hafley‘s defense was significantly better in 2024. Instead of being a weakness, the Packers’ defense was actually a strength. Their quarterback pressure, however, needs be addressed immediately:
One intriguing player to keep an eye on could be New Orleans Saints impending free agent defensive end Chase Young.
Dan Saia of Zone Coverage has suggested that the former No. 2 overall pick could make sense for the Packers if they miss on the more prolific options like Myles Garrett or Maxx Crosby.
“He’s young, has upside as a pass-rusher, and is coming off a season of good health,” Saia wrote. “He’s an option for the Packers if they can’t land Garrett or Crosby. Gutekunst and Co. should prioritize adding more blue-chip players this offseason, and you don’t get much more blue-chip than a former No. 2-overall pick with Chase Young’s pedigree.”

Young ended up playing in all 17 games for the Saints during the 2024 season. He racked up 31 total tackles to go along with 5.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and three defended passes.
Health has always been an issue for Young. In his five years playing in the NFL, he has only played in 10 or more games twice. Obviously, that is not an ideal statistic.
Depending on his price tag in free agency, Green Bay would be wise to take a look at him. He is a former No. 2 overall pick for a reason.
Here is a look at Young’s career numbers:
