Myles Garrett requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns this week, and there may be as many as dozens of teams interested in acquiring the former Defensive Player of The Year, including the Green Bay Packers.
Garrett is the very definition of a generational talent, and the kind of player who can lift a competing team in the to upper echelon of Super Bowl contenders. After all, he’s riding a three-season streak of surpassing at least 14 sacks, underscoring the kind of disruptive impact he’s capable of making along the front seven.
If general manager Brian Gutekunst is serious about turning the Packers into an overnight Super Bowl contender this offseason by adding significant talent on both sides of the football, expect Green Bay to make a strong push to pull off a blockbuster to acquire Garrett from the Browns.
How Myles Garrett’s Contract Figures into Packers Trade Talks

For the Packers, and every other team interested in Garrett, the All-Pro’s contract could play a role in timing of any deal.
That’s because Garrett is due an $18.5 million bonus if he is on the Browns’ roster on the fifth day of the NFL’s new league year, which this year happens to be March 16.
Cleveland, and Browns general manager Andrew Berry, would be wise to move Garrett before his bonus money triggers, so that it isn’t counted against the salary cap in 2025.
Green Bay is projected to have upwards of $37.5 million in space next season, which would be plenty of spending flexibility to absorb Garrett’s deal. If the Packers, or any other team around the league wants Garrett, they may need to strike soon with an offer the Browns can’t refuse.
