The Green Bay Packers have already made a substantial number of changes on their roster ahead of the 2025 off-season. So far, the changes have come on the coaching staff side of things. Of course, fans certainly had something to say about Green Bay’s most recent hire.
“Are You Serious?” Packers Fans Absolutely Rip Hire From AFC Dumpster Fire
According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky:
The Packers are planning to hire former Patriots defensive coordinator DeMarcus Covington as their new defensive line coach and promote Sean Mannion to quarterbacks coach, sources told ESPN.
Contracts not signed yet but agreements in place. Deals should be finalized soon.
Covington coached the Patriots outside linebackers (2019) and defensive line (2020-2023) in New England before his one season as coordinator.
During the 2024 season, Covington served as the Patriots defensive coordinator. He was let go with head coach Jerod Mayo at the end of the season. For four years, he was the Patriots’ defensive line coach before being promoted to coordinator.
Fans had a lot to say about the hiring:
Yes finally please keep them outside hires coming.

Glad Covington got a job somewhere else. He’s a good DL coach, just thrust into the DC spot without any real experience calling plays and it didn’t go well. Hope he succeeds in GB
