As the Green Bay Packers prepare for the upcoming 2023 NFL offseason, one big question mark will dictate what direction they choose to go. Obviously, that question is whether or not Aaron Rodgers will be back under center or whether the team will trade him elsewhere. Once that question is answered, there are quite a few other issues that the Packers will need to focus on fixing.
Even as the Rodgers situation continues forward, the Packers are planning on two possible routes. Thankfully, their other moves are too contingent Rodgers’ decision.
One area that the Packers will need to focus on regardless who the quarterback is will be adding more help around their signal caller. The 2022 season showcased the need for another legitimate wide receiver threat. Looking at the upcoming NFL free agency period, there are some solid options available.
Recently, one intriguing free agent veteran wide receiver was connected as a possible target for the Packers.
Veteran Wide Receiver Mentioned As Fit For Packers
Packers Wire took a look at a few possible options for the Packers at wide receiver. They mentioned three potential targets and one of them was Detroit Lions’ free agent wideout DJ Chark.
Unfortunately, injuriesfollowed Chark in his one season in Detroit, as he appeared in 11 games and finished third on the team with 502 yards. However, when healthy, Chark can still be a big play target after averaging 16.7 yards per reception. Given his potential, he’s an intriguing option for Green Bay since his speed paired with Watson would give the offense another deep threat. Chark is also relatively young at 26 years of age and should carry an average annual salary under $10 million.
Chark has been a name that has been connected as possible target for quite a few different teams. If the Packers are indeed interested in him, they aren’t going to be able to acquire him easily.

The other two options that were listed in the article are Marvin Jones and Darius Slayton. Both of those guys would be similar options to Chark, but quite simply Chark would be the best fit of all three.
Standing in at 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, Chark would give the Packers another dynamic at the wide receiver position. They have Christian Watson, who is known more for his speed and big-play ability. Romeo Doubs is another young building block and he is a great possession wideout. Having a big-bodied wide receiver to be a security blanket either down the field or in the short game like Chark would be an ideal fit for Green Bay.
Expect to see Green Bay look into adding a legitimate impact wide receiver this offseason. Chark may not end up being the piece, but he’s an intriguing fit. Don’t be shocked if the Packers are among the teams interested in signing him when free agency opens up.
