The New York Jets are releasing a former Green Bay Packers quarterback ahead of the 53-man roster deadline Tuesday afternoon. The Jets signed several former Packers players this offseason as they traded for quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Tim Boyle, who is familiar with Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett and Rodgers during his time with the Packers, was one of several Jets players on the bubble to make the 53-man roster. With Rodgers and former first-round pick Zach Wilson on the roster, the Jets are set at QB1 and QB2.

According to Jeremy Fowler with ESPN, the Jets are releasing Boyle. The Jets are expected to retain Boyle on the practice squad if no other team picks him up.

Boyle played for the Packers from 2018-2020. He spent time with the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears before ending up with the Jets this season.
