A Green Bay Packers rival is continuing to endure a tumultuous training camp after reports came out that one of their tight ends won’t be back on the field any time soon. The Detroit Lions saw C.J. Gardner-Johnson return to practice this weekend after going down with a scary injury.
A Green Bay Packers rival loses their tight end for a while
Monday saw darker headlines for the current favorite to win the NFC North. Wide receiver Jameson Williams punched a defensive back at practice. That storyline was overshadowed by a report from Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network that tight end Shane Zylstra sustained a knee injury that could keep him sidelined for six months.
#Lions TE Shane Zylstra is believed to have suffered a serious and significant knee injury, sources say. He’ll have more tests, but there isn’t a lot of optimism. The pass catcher caught four touchdowns for the Lions last season. The unfortunate injury will hurt the Lions’ depth at tight end and on special teams. While Zylstra was projected to be the fourth tight end on the depth chart, he provided much more to the Lions on special teams during his previous two seasons.
