The Green Bay Packers may have two (or three) more names to add to their list of Hall of Famers that have been a part of their organization. Today, the Pro Football Hall of Fame Senior Committee trimmed its list of semi-finalists down to 12 players and 12 coaches/contributors. Sterling Sharpe and Mike Holmgren are each finalists in their respective categories. Steve McMichael, who ended his career with Green Bay after a 13-year stop in Chicago, is also a finalist.
In the final vote by the senior committee, three players and one coach/contributor will be selected for consideration. The coach/contributor selectors will meet on August 15 while the player selectors will meet on August 22.
How Can Green Bay Packers Legends Sterling Sharpe and Mike Holmgren Get in the Hall of Fame
Sharpe and Holmgren need to be selected as finalists by the senior committee in order to be considered for induction. If they are chosen, it does not guarantee that they will finally be voted in.
In order for their induction to happen, they must get 80% approval from the selection committee, who will also be considering the 15 modern-era finalists.
The good news for both Sharpe and Holmgren is that all three players and the one coach that were nominated by the senior committee were voted into the Hall of Fame last year.
