There was a time when Green Bay Packers players dominated top-100 lists. That is not the case now as just one player on the current roster made CBS’ top-100 list. Based on the honorable mentions, though, it may not be long until Packers’ players dominate the list once again.
Green Bay Packers Cornerback Jaire Alexander Comes In at #21 on Top-100 List
Jaire Alexander came in at 21st on the top-100 list. Of his position, all that was written was: “He continues to be an outstanding cover player. He had five picks last season for the Packers.”
For the second time in his career, Alexander was named Second Team All-Pro and made the Pro Bowl. The five interceptions were a career high.
Additionally, he had 14 pass breakups, the second-highest total of his career. The 63.7 passer rating opposing quarterbacks had when targeting Alexander was also a career best.
Several Green Bay Packers Players Were Honorable Mentions
The Packers players who were honorable mentions for the top-100 list were:
- Aaron Jones
- Rashan Gary
- Elgton Jenkins
- Christian Watson
It makes sense that Elgton Jenkins be an honorable mention as he was a Pro Bowl selection last year. Perhaps the argument could even be made that he was snubbed of a spot on the actual list.
Aaron Jones’ inclusion makes sense as well, and another argument could be made that he should be on the actual list.
Rashan Gary missed a good portion of last season, so his recognition as an honorable mention makes sense. If he were to have not gotten hurt, he most likely would have made the list.
What is most surprising (in a good way) is the inclusion of Christian Watson as an honorable mention. He had 611 receiving yards last year and nine total touchdowns. A star on the rise, it will be interesting to see what kind of leap Watson takes in Year Two.
If he plays up to his potential, he will be a lot higher on the list next offseason.
Former Green Bay Packers on the Top-100 List
Former Packers players on the top-100 list were:
- Davante Adams (17th)
- Aaron Rodgers (29th)
- Micah Hyde (73rd)
Former Wisconsin Badgers on the Top-100 List
Former Wisconsin Badgers on the list include:
- TJ Watt (11th)
- Jonathan Taylor (36th)
