The Green Bay Packers are transitioning to Jordan Love as their starting quarterback after 15 years of Hall of Fame play from Aaron Rodgers. This change has brought a great deal of questions with it, not the least of which is “How good will Jordan Love be?” Numerous analysts and players (both former and current) have been asked this question.
On Tuesday, Clay Matthews was asked in an interview on Sirius XM NFL Radio what his thoughts are on the Packers under Jordan Love. His answer was as rational as they come.
Former Green Bay Packers Pass Rusher Clay Matthews Is Taking a “Wait and See” Approach to Jordan Love
Matthews, of course, was in a similar position to Rodgers. After 10 years in Green Bay, the Packers decided to move on from him and he spent the last year of his career with the Los Angeles Rams. He said in his interview going to a new team after spending so many years with just one is like a breath of fresh air:
“It’s a breath of fresh air”

During his interview, he also said that he is rooting for Rodgers to succeed in New York, but he is also rooting for the Packers to do well, too. However, he is taking a “wait and see” approach to Love:
“I’m kind of on a wait-and-see approach. I know Packers fans have had it so good, especially the transition from Favre to Rodgers. Now, I’m assuming many are probably thinking it’s just going to be hunky-dory for the next 15 years.”
Mr. Matthews obviously has not been on Packers Facebook lately. However, his approach is more than fair. Many fans and analysts are taking this approach, knowing that the only way to find out how good Love is will come from watching him actually play.
