The Green Bay Packers could be the benefit of yet another key injury to the Chicago Bears ahead of their Week 1 matchup. Reports came out this week two starters on the Bears offensive line, Teven Jenkins and Darnell Wright, are missing practice this week due to injury.
The Green Bay Packers’ first opponent, the Chicago Bears, has many injuries
Jenkins’ injury is known to be severe. He could miss up to six weeks, and Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said Jenkins’ status is week-to-week. According to Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic, the Bears had several key players missing practice Wednesday due to injury or vet day.

Cole Kmet is injured
The Bears had another major piece on their offense suffer an injury Wednesday. According to Sean Hammond with Bears Insider, tight end Cole Kmet had to leave the team’s practice Wednesday on a cart due to an injury.

It’s unclear Wednesday evening how severe Kmet’s injury is. But Courtney Cronin with ESPN said the injury was bad enough that Kmet couldn’t walk back under his own power.
Lengthy list of non-participants at practice, including a few who warmed up and then did not practice. Of note, Cole Kmet sustained an undisclosed injury, left practice early and hitched a ride back on cart. We can’t report on specifics but it was not because he couldn’t walk.

Kmet would be a big loss for the Bears against the Packers in Week 1. Kmet led the Bears in receiving yards last season with 544 yards. He added seven touchdowns last season.
Kmet’s play was enough for Bears general manager Ryan Poles to give Kmet a new contract extension early in training camp this year. The Bears need Kmet as a blocker and receiving target on the offense.
The Packers would benefit from having one less blocker to worry about. If Kmet were out, the Packers wouldn’t have to key in on Kmet as a tight end alongside the wide receiver trio of D.J. Moore, Darnell Mooney, and Chase Claypool.
This is an injury Packers fans should keep an eye on.
