The Green Bay Packers were reportedly without their star cornerback, Jaire Alexnder, for their first preseason game Friday night against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Most Packers fans had their sights set on the offense as quarterback Jordan Love made his debut as the team’s true starting quarterback. Love finished his final series of the game with a nine-yard touchdown pass. Sean Clifford made his first appearance in a game after Love was done for the night.
Jaire Alexander misses Green Bay Packers preseason game with injury
However, big news was made about the Packers’ defense Friday night. According to Mike Spofford with the Packers, Alexander had to sit out against the Bengals. Alexander sustained a groin injury in training camp. The injury isn’t serious, but the Packers didn’t want to take the risk of aggravating the injury in a preseason game.
Jaire Alexander is among those sitting out for #Packers. He has a groin injury that is not considered serious. The rest is precautionary. https://t.co/FyF2gL8VYi

It’ll be interesting to see if Alexander returns to practice next week.
