Blake Martinez was once racking up tackles for the Green Bay Packers defense. However, after leaving the Packers he signed with the New York Giants and then the Las Vegas Raiders. Martinez retired and what came next was a surprise to most. He began selling collector Pokéman cards and became quite successful in doing so. He started his own company and reports stated that he has made millions selling the cards after his NFL career. However, a recent report states that he has been banned from the online marketplace “Whatnot” for scamming collectors.
What did former Green Bay Packers player Blake Martinez do?
Martinez stopped playing football, but he had a plan ready to go. He made loads of money selling collector cards, but now he finds himself in some trouble. His company “Blakesbreaks” was investigated by the platform “Whatnot” and they found that he was violating their guidelines. They even issued refunds to those who were scammed by the ex-Green Bay Packers linebacker.
“We really appreciate the community’s commitment to reporting trust & safety issues. Our priority is ensuring a fair and honest experience for customers and upholding our community guidelines. After a comprehensive investigation into Blakesbreaks’ operations we have decided to permanently remove the seller from our platform, including the individual employees involved in misconduct.”

Martinez is now banned on one platform, but it is safe to assume that other platforms will follow up with their own investigations. Martinez has not yet released any statement regarding his company’s actions. This is not the first time the former Green Bay Packers star has been involved in something like this. He has issued an apology in the past when one of his employees was seen using a sleight of hand on a stream.
“I understand the optics. I understand how it looks, trust me. I know the type of business I run. I know the type of decisions I made across the board. I made a good amount of money—everybody knows, in the NFL—I knew stepping into this was going to have a target on my back. I know people that come in here, spend their hard-earned money that they could spend elsewhere—and I want this to be a safe space. I’m definitely going to take this as a learning experience … and I’m going to make an improvement.”
