NBA Rumors: The Cleveland Cavaliers have made a few notable moves during NBA free agency. They signed Max Strus from the Miami Heat on a four-year deal worth $63 million, while also adding Georges Niang via a three-year, $26 million contract. Cleveland also renewed the deal of Caris LeVert, who will now remain with the Cavs for at least two more years.
As it turns out, Cleveland is not done just yet. They are now being linked to at least three free agents that are still available in the market, including a big man that played for their Central Division rivals, the Milwaukee Bucks.
NBA Rumors: Cavs Eyeing Trio Of Free Agents, Including Christian Wood
According to team insider Chris Fedor of celevand.com, the Cavs have shown interest in Dallas Mavericks center Christian Wood. The 27-year-old is one of the few remaining (relatively) big names in the market, and it comes as no surprise that he’s also being linked to other teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Mavs are reportedly leaning towards not renewing Wood’s contract, and they are open to a possible sign-and-trade deal.
Fedor also reports that apart from Wood, the Cavs are also looking at the prospect of adding PJ Washington and Kelly Oubre Jr, who both played for the Charlotte Hornets last season.
NBA Rumors: Christian Wood’s Bucks Stint Was Short-Lived
Christian Wood is a familiar name for Bucks fans. Although, given how the 6-foot-10 big man spent just half a season in Milwaukee, it also wouldn’t be surprising if some supporters have already forgotten about his quick stint with the team.
Wood signed with the Bucks as a free agent in 2018, but he ended up playing just 13 games before Milwaukee decided to waive him six months after adding him to their roster. In his extremely brief spell with the Bucks, Wood averaged a paltry 2.8 points and 1.5 rebounds in just 4.8 minutes per game. Apart from Milwaukee and Dallas, Wood has also suited up for the Houston Rockets, the Detroit Pistons, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Charlotte Hornets, and the New Orleans Pelicans.
