It’s been a while since we all last saw Donte DiVincenzo in a Milwaukee Bucks uniform. Well, this could actually happen in the near future after the 26-year-old decided to turn down his player option with the Golden State Warriors next season. DiVincenzo will now become a free agent, which opens the door to a potential reunion with the Bucks.
Donte DiVincenzo Opts Out Of His Deal With The Warirors

Around this time last year, Di Vincenzo penned a two-year deal with the Warriors worth $9.2 million. The thing is, he had a player option in the second year of that deal, which means that if he wanted to, he could walk away from the Warriors as a free agent. This is exactly what the 6-foot-4 shooting guard decided to do as he looks to secure a better deal in the market.
In spite of his decision to enter NBA free agency, however, there’s still a big chance that Donte ends up with the Warriors again this coming season. He will likely negotiate a new deal that will keep him in Golden State for a longer period, and potentially, will be worth more than the $4.7 million he was guaranteed to pocket if he picked up his player option.
DiVincenzo had a good year with the Dubs this past season, averaging 9.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists, while also connecting on a career-high 2.1 triples per game on a highly-efficient 39.7-percent clip. As such, the Warriors are likely to offer the former Villanova standout an extension to keep him in Golden State for the years to come.
Could Donte DiVincenzo Return To Milwaukee This Summer?

The answer to that question is yes. DiVincenzo spent the first three and a half years of his career with the Bucks, and when he left in February 2022, he was already an NBA champion. At that time, Milwaukee decided to part ways with Donte as part of a four-team deal. DiVincenzo ended up with the Sacramento Kings while the Bucks netted Serge Ibaka, a couple of future second-round picks, and cash considerations.
The Bucks could sure use the services of Donte DiVincenzo now that he’s available. Shooting was an issue for Milwaukee last season, and this is an area wherein the former No. 17 overall pick could prove useful to the team. The Bucks, however, will need to pay DiVincenzo much more than they did during his initial stint.
On top of that, Milwaukee has the likes of Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez’s contract situations to deal with. These two starters are set to enter NBA free agency as well, and it remains to be seen if the Bucks will have enough cap room to sign a guy like DiVincenzo once (if?) they are able to re-sign Khris and Brook to their respective extensions.
