Jrue Holiday has been a key piece for the Milwaukee Bucks over the past few years. 2023-24 will be no different as the Bucks look to the veteran point guard as not only one of their stalwarts on defense but at the same time, as their primary playmaker on the offensive end.
It’s going to be a big year ahead for Holiday and Milwaukee’s level of success will rely heavily on the type of season the two-time All-Star has this year.
Jrue Holiday Ranked No. 13 Guard in NBA for 2023-24
Bleacher Report has come out with their comprehensive listing of the Top 30 guards across the league for the upcoming season. It comes as no surprise that Holiday has emerged on the esteemed list, with the writers of Bleacher Report ranking him 13th overall.
Holiday’s biggest strength is perhaps the way he impacts the team on the defensive end. The fact that he’s been named on the NBA’s All-Defense team five times in the past six years is a clear testament to this fact. On offense, Jrue had to take a bigger role for the Bucks last season amid Khris Middleton’s injury, but with the latter expected to be healthy again this term, Holiday can revert to his role as a third-option behind Middleton and of course, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
“He may not play the flashiest game, but he has mastered the art of bringing brute force to the backcourt. His physicality, poise and endless energy supply have helped him rank favorably among the league’s most reliable lead guards, and the fact the 33-year-old isn’t overly reliant on athleticism should allow him to continue aging gracefully,” wrote Bleacher Report.
In case you were wondering, Bleacher Report’s Top 5 guards for 2023-24 are Damian Lillard, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Devin Booker, respectively. Stephen Curry had to settle for the second spot behind Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic, who reigned supreme in B/R’s rankings.
