General manager Brian Gutekunst essentially declared that he is on a mission this offseason to transform the Green Bay Packers into legitimate Super Bowl contenders, and if he’s serious, that mission needs to start with trading for Myles Garrett.
After all, the Packers have a problem.
Quarterback Jordan Love and the offense are fine enough, but sputtered down the stretch, as Green Bay not only fell to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Wild Card round but also were winless against the Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, and Eagles, the three teams most likely standing in Green Bay’s way of coming close to playing for the Lombardi Trophy anytime soon.
What the Packers Should Offer The Browns for Myles Garrett
Garrett, who requested a trade from the Browns Monday, would be the kind of game-altering talent and culture elevator that Gutekunst and the Packers need to prioritize.
A trade for Garrett won’t be cheap, though.
Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports that the Browns are unlikely to receive multiple first-round picks in any trade.
However, a first-rounder is likely to be the prerequisite to any deal.
With that in mind, here would be an ideal trade proposal for both teams:
Green Bay Packers trade: 2025 First-Round Pick, 2025 Second-Round Pick, 2026 Second-Round Pick, WR Romeo Doubs
Cleveland Browns trade: EDGE Myles Garrett, 2026 Fourth-Round Pick
The Packers’ sending the Browns two picks in the top 55 has to be alluring for the Browns to jumpstart a rebuild. Similarly, acquiring Doubs, 24, who is in the final year of his rookie contract, would be a good move. Cleveland would have the chance to either extend him following a strong season or allow him to walk, potentially fetching a compensatory draft pick should he sign elsewhere.
At this moment, Green Bay is closer to competing for a championship than Cleveland but, adding a playmaker to round out the receiving corps could be an alluring option for the Browns.
If Gutekunst and the Packers are serious about trading for Garrett, they are going to need to offer a premium, because they are going to have plenty of competition for the former Defensive Player of The Year, especially among fellow contenders.
