A Green Bay Packers NFC North rival is set to receive Cam Akers after completing a trade deal with the Los Angeles Rams Wednesday.

Rams head coach Sean McVay was public about his attempts to shop Akers this season. The Cleveland Browns were considered a logical destination after Nick Chubb suffered a season-ending injury in Week 2. However, the Browns signed Kareem Hunt on Wednesday.
The Minnesota Vikings need running back help

The Vikings are taking a risk for running back help by adding Akers. The Vikings decided to release star running back Dalvin Cook this offseason. (Cook signed with the New York Jets.)
The Vikings have struggled to get a run game going through the season’s first two games. Alexander Mattison is the Vikings leading back, and he has just 62 yards on 19 carries. The Vikings have 69 rushing yards total for the 2023 season.
It makes sense for them to be desperate enough to take a chance on Akers.
